Chiropractic Treatment For Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS) In Suprise AZ
Fatigue is one of the most common issues we see here in the office. It can have so many causes both nutritional and structural/neurological. The most common reasons we see are:
- Nutritional Deficiencies – Vitamin D, Iron (anemia), B Vitamins/pernicious anemia, Minerals (Iodine, Zinc, other trace minerals), and more!
- Most patients that present to the office have one or more nutritional deficiencies. Many people make the mistake of assuming a state of health because they don’t have an officially diagnosed disease/illness. This leaves many people chronically sick but accepting it as normal. This is NOT normal. Part of this issue is the mass epidemic of unidentified nutritional deficiencies. There are many reasons why these deficiencies occur:
- Processed/Typical American Diet – The typical American diet of processed foods like high sugar beverages, white breads, preservatives, dyes, trans fats, hydrogentated oils, and other foods are lacking in nutritional value. Eating this diet in the long-term creates multiple nutrient deficiencies that lead to a multitude of symptoms and disease states.
- Genetic Predispositions – Some people are just more prone to utilize more nutrients than other people. We still do not fully understand all of the mechanisms of why this occurs, but we do see many examples of this. For example, some women require more iron than others and are prone to become anemic. In this example, this individual will have to supplement iron on some level for the rest of their life because they use/lose more iron than the average woman. Another example would be an individual with a family history of heart disease. Research is showing that many of these individuals lack the ability to breakdown and eliminate accumulations of homocysteine; an amino acid. This leads to damage of the arteries and veins of the body and results in heart disease. A person with this issue will need to supplement with vitamin B6 & choline because this vitamin and natural chemical are involved in breakdown of this amino acid. Doesn’t that make a lot more sense than just treating symptoms like high blood pressure or cholesterol levels?
- Chronic Infection – When people hold on to chronic low-grade infections it saps a lot of energy. I find that at least 50% of our patients who present to the office have at least one kind of chronic infection. Whether it is bacterial, viral, fungal, yeast, viral, or bacterial. Finding what type of infection someone has and providing the proper immune system support and herbs that will eliminate this infection is the key to restoring energy to the body. If the body is no longer having to fight this infection, it can provide that energy to the processes it is supposed to. Plus, yeast and parasitic infections steal your nutrients directly. They coat the intestinal tract and absorb your nutrients directly from your food before you do! By cleansing the body of these infections you will absorb more of your nutrients!
- Stomach/GI Tract Inflammation and Damage – This must be one of the most common issues that patients present with to the office. There are so many reasons this can occur; from chronic toxic exposure, food sensitivities/allergies, GI tract infections, low stomach acid, autoimmune reactions, and more. Healing the stomach lining and getting to the root-cause of the problem is the only way to eliminate the energy spent on trying to heal a chronically inflamed gut.
- Modern Farming Practices – Over farming crop fields and utilizing synthetic fertilizers has led us to a period where farming soil has not only become toxic but also depleted of all major nutrients. This is because back when farming was done organically, we practiced crop cycling where you would grow different types of crops on a plot of land every few years and then give that land a break. In modern times we no longer practice this essential method. We have large unmanned machines growing large plots of the same crops year after year because there are only a few crops that are profitable these days; corn and soy. This has led to a leaching of all the essential vitamins and minerals in the soil which leads to flavorless, colorless, and nutrient deficient foods. Therefore, even if someone follows a half-way decent diet these days, they will still be deficient in almost all major vitamins and minerals.
- Toxic Exposures/Heavy Metals/Pharmaceutical Drugs – Chronic exposures to environmental toxins cause a whole host of health issues. Almost all major diseases have a link in some way to toxic exposure. Examples are car exhaust, flame retardants, pesticides, herbicides, mercury, arsenic, formaldehyde, food additives/preservatives, and more. These toxins accumulate in the body and put a heavy tax on the liver, kidneys, spleen, and other organs. We must do different types of body cleanses utilizing concentrated foods and herbs to push/bind these chemicals and safely excrete them from the body. When it comes to pharmaceutical drugs, we have a long list of disastrous consequences that come from chronic usage of these chemicals. One of the biggest issues is that all pharmaceutical drugs push one or more nutrients from the body with chronic utilization. Most commonly they tend to excrete b vitamins, vitamin c, minerals like iodine and zinc, and so many more. This is such a known problem that they have books you can purchase that have hundreds of different drugs and what nutrient deficiencies they create. I highly recommend you buy one of these books and find out which nutrients you are likely deficient in based upon the drugs you are taking.
- And more!
- Chronic Infections (bacterial, fungal, yeast, viral, parasitic) – See Above
- Liver Congestion/Fatty Liver/Cirrhosis – As we have discussed in previous topics, the liver is an absolute powerhouse when it comes to functions in the body. In terms of energy production, the liver is essential! This is where the body stores a lot of its glucose for future energy use, where around 90% of thyroid hormone conversion occur, where most detoxification happens, and so much more!
- Kidney Issues/Infections – Many people have chronic kidney issues without knowing it. From chronic kidney infections, to kidney damage from poor diets/pharmaceutical drugs, to genetic predispositions to filtration issues, and more. The kidneys are involved in a lot of things and will cause major issues in your energy if they are suffering.
- Adrenal Gland Burnout – This is one of the most common reasons patients have low energy levels. Today we live in a very stressful environment. People are always on the go and are constantly exposed to stressful events. When these occur, it triggers a stress response in the body that has been named the “fight or flight response”. In neurology we call this a sympathetic response. Chemically, this neurological stimulation triggers a release of stress hormones from the adrenal glands. Over time, this chronic release of stress hormones depletes the body of these essential hormones. This leads to energy crashes, constant low energy, panic attacks/anxiety disorders, and so much more. There are several different minerals/vitamins/and herbs that can be helpful in restoring proper adrenal gland function.
- Increased Spinal Cord Tension/Brainstem Tension – As we have discussed in other topics, the structural/neurological problems that occur with vertebral damage can have far reaching effects beyond just pain. If you haven’t read our section on ABC technique I would highly recommend you do as it can cause an array of symptoms; fatigue being just one of many.
